7 Powerful Ways Moms Can Practice Self-Love

Do you ever wish for more self-love?
Here are seven tips to help you find that time and energy.
It's no secret that being a mom is one of the hardest jobs in the world. We are constantly juggling a million different things and often put our own needs last. But what if we told you that taking care of yourself is not only essential for your well-being, but also for your kids?
Self-love is not selfish. It's not indulgent. It's a necessity.
Think about it this way: if you're running on empty, you're going to have a hard time being the best mom you can be. You need to take care of yourself first in order to be able to take care of your kids the way they deserve.
So how do you do that? Here are some tips:
- Make time for yourself every day
This doesn't mean you have to spend hours pampering yourself (although there's nothing wrong with that!). Just set aside some time each day – even if it's just 15 minutes – to do something for yourself. Read a book, journal, meditate, take a bubble bath, go for a walk…whatever makes you happy.
- Find a hobby
Having something in your life that's just for you can do wonders for your self-esteem and sense of well-being. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as it brings you joy.
- Dress for success
Yes, we know you're a mom and comfort is key. But that doesn't mean you have to live in yoga pants 24/7! Take some time to find clothes that make you feel good about yourself – even if they're just a pair of jeans and a cute top. When you look good, you'll feel good. And don’t forget the shoes! Sometimes simply changing our shoes can change our mood.
- Get moving
Exercise isn't just good for your physical body, it's excellent for your mental well-being. So move your body as it stores energy. Join a mom's fitness group, go for walks with the stroller, take online dance classes…whatever gets you moving and sweating.
- Connect with other moms
Having a strong network of supportive friends is crucial for all moms. We all need someone to vent to (or just commiserate with!) when things get tough. Find a local mom's group or join an online community like this one.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help
This is something that all moms need to hear: it's okay to ask for help! Whether it's hiring a babysitter so you can have some much-needed "me time" or asking your partner to pitch in more around the house, don't be afraid to delegate. You can't do it all, and that's perfectly fine.
- Seek professional help if you need it
There's no shame in admitting that you need a little extra help to get through tough times. If you're struggling with depression, anxiety, or any other mental health issue, seek professional help. There's no reason to go through it alone when there are people who can help. Therapists, coaches, mentors are all excellent resources.
Taking care of yourself is not selfish – it's essential. So make self-love a priority in your life and watch as your happiness (and parenting skills!) skyrocket.
